Prince's Scottish Youth Business Trust
In March 2007 the Laidlaw Youth Trust awarded approximately £400,000 to 16 charities, supporting their work with some of the most disadvantaged and excluded young people in Scotland. These projects can be seen in the Who We Fund section of our website. Over 2007 and 2008 we will be spending £4 million on work within Scotland supporting a range of activities.
Over the last couple of months we have been absorbed in the various duties involved in becoming a fully registered charity, including updating our processes and procedures to ensure they are robust and efficient for our work as the Laidlaw Youth Trust. One of the most significant changes is the appointment of Tony Makos as the new Trust Development Officer. Tony brings to the Trust a background in grantmaking and ICT, and will be working to support, develop and enhance the work of the Laidlaw Youth Trust and its effectiveness as a major funder of youth work in Scotland.
As a result of the move to Trust status, there has inevitably been a focus on reviewing our internal processes and how these can work more efficiently to the benefit of future applicant charities. Unfortunately, as a result we do have a backlog of proposals and enquiries from a wealth of Scottish charities to look at, and while we will shortly be addressing this, if your own application has been caught up in this backlog then please be assured that we will be in touch as soon as we can to discuss your proposal.
